Who’s Sprout?

Hi there! I’m Angus, owner and operator of Sprout Co. I have a love for all things hospitality and a passion for growing strong brands and empowered teams. I believe that exceeding a person’s expectations can leave a lasting impression and that great businesses start from within. With over 15 years of operations and project management experience across Australia and the United States, I bring a practical, people first approach to every venture I support.

I began my career in Sydney while studying at the University of Technology. During that time, I started working at a busy café called The Boathouse, where I quickly fell in love with the energy of hospitality. After graduating, I put my sports business degree on pause to help open the second Boathouse location and never looked back. I spent nearly a decade with The Boathouse Group, helping grow what would become one of Sydney’s most recognized hospitality groups.

From there, I joined Public House Management Group, taking on senior roles across a busy Sydney pub, bistro, and a fine-dining French restaurant. While this was invaluable experience, I was eager to push myself further, which led me to Montauk, New York, where I became Director of Operations at The Surf Lodge Hotel.

The Surf Lodge took my career to a whole new level. The volume, intensity, and unpredictability shaped me into the problem solver I am today. From managing thousands of people daily, dropping John Legend’s grand piano onto an outdoor stage by crane, to replicating Surf Lodge in Miami hotel for Art Basel in just 48 hours, every day brought a new challenge and with that, opportunity.

After two wild, transformative years at The Surf Lodge, I partnered with my friend and hospitality legend Julien Bizalion, and moved south to open The Post House Inn, a boutique hotel and restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina. Following a successful launch, I stayed on in Charleston and joined Basic Projects, where I led operations for three world class restaurants and a Michelin Key award winning hotel, being The Post House.

In 2025, I launched Sprout Co., a consulting company specializing in brand concepting and development, project management, business scaling, recruitment and training and much more. Though Sprout Co. is rooted in hospitality, I now work with a diverse mix of clients across consumer beverage, retail and furniture design and manufacturing. All my partners have a shared focus on building thoughtful, sustainable, and growth driven businesses.
